Raycho Raychev Awarded Doctor Honoris Causa

On July 26, 2024, Raycho Raychev, the CEO and Founder of EnduroSat, was awarded Doctor Honoris Causa by the Nikola Vaptsarov Naval Academy in Varna. Raychev is a leading figure of Space and science education on the Balkans.

In 2010, Raychev launched the Space Challenges education program to train local talent with the practical skills to compete in the Space industry. The program quickly grew in size and reach with the foundation of EnduroSat in 2015, attracting industry leaders from NASA, ESA, IBM Space, Stanford University, Planet and many more. Space Challenges now counts over 600 alumni from across 25 countries, with many graduates joining the team at EnduroSat.

In 2023, EnduroSat took the next step in its education strategy by rebuilding three space labs in universities across Bulgaria, including the Azimov Space lab at Nikola Vaptsarov Naval Academy. Each lab is equipped with high-end computers and software, as well as EnduroSat’s latest DeskSat model to support the Balkan’s first Master’s program in Space Engineering and Technology.

The Master’s program is designed from the ground up by EnduroSat to be 75% practice and train the next generation of Space engineers and operators. It has already played a part in building new global partnerships, most recently creating exchange opportunities with the BIUST team in Botswana.

‘’I feel humbled and excited to receive this recognition. Big thank you to my team for continuing to push hard in our efforts to make space accessible! Education is fundamental and we will continue our efforts to build the future space force of the EU and beyond.’’
